The installation modes

There are several installation modes for OSE. These installation modes are available on the first screen displayed during the installation of OSE.

 

 

Here are the details of each mode:

 


 

1. Standalone mode

Standalone mode allows you to install on the same server the PostgreSQL database and the monitoring tool OpenNMS.

Here are the settings automatically configured:

OSE-STANDALONE as hostname
Identification Use of /etc/shadow
Use of md5 to crypt passwords

Disabled services cups,sendmail,bluetooth,yum-updatesd

 

Here are the parameters set by the user during the installation:

  • Language
  • Type of keyboard
  • Partitioning
  • Timezone
  • Root password

 


 

2. Fully automatic standalone mode

The fully automatic standalone mode allows you to install on the same server PostgreSQL database and monitoring tool OpenNMS without user intervention.

 

Here are the settings automatically configured:

The CentOS recommanded size for the swap partition (machine-dependent)
The rest of the disk to a volume group named main_vg
Logical volumes 8% of vg_main for the logical volume /home (lv_home)
8% of vg_main for the logical volume /backup (lv_backup)
25% of vg_main for the logical volume /usr (lv_usr)
25% of vg_main for the logical volume /var (lv_var)
Keyboard fr-lation1 (Azerty)
Language en_US
Root password rootroot (To be changed after installation)
Timezone Europe/Paris

 


 

3. Installation of PostgreSQL

The installation of PostgreSQL allows you to install a server with the PostgreSQL database and OSE tools to connect it easily to the monitoring tool OpenNMS.

 

The configuration is the same to the standalone mode.

 


 

4. Installation of OpenNMS

The installation of OpenNMS allows you to install an OpenNMS server and OSE tools to easily connect it to a database located on another server.

 

The configuration is the same to the standalone mode.

 


 

5. Rescue mode

The rescue mode is the same to the rescue mode available in the CentOS distribution.
